Meet the Band
We are trying a different format for today’s Band Watch interview. Instead of the interview being primarily audio, we switched it up to text.
Now, you don’t have to throw in your headphones when you’re zoning out at work while while you’re checking out Audio Angst, you can just do in in another internet tab.
Today’s band is Brooklane from Fargo, ND. You read that right, North Dakota. I never knew there was a pop punk scene there but these guys are leading the charge. I’ve been binge-listening to these guys over the last few months and I know you’ll love them.
Ian: Hey man, thanks for agreeing to do the interview. I've been listening to you guys for the last few months and totally binging for the last two weeks. Tell everyone who you are (who's in the band/what instrument they play) and where you're from.
Brooklane: Ahh that's so cool to hear! We appreciate it. We’re Brooklane, a pop-punk band from North Dakota. Alex Anderson is the singer, Chance Stearns is the guitarist, and Lucas Pazdernik is the drummer.
Ian: How did you all meet and how long have you been playing together?
Brooklane: We met by just growing up together in the North Dakota music scene, which is very small. Together, we've been playing for just a few years now.
Ian: I get major pop punk vibes when I listen to you. Who are some of your musical influences and how do they affect your songwriting and performing?
Brooklane: There are so many bands we love and draw inspiration from, but I would say Stand Atlantic, State Champs & Neck Deep are some of our favorites.
Ian: One of the songs I've been binging on the most is Here To Stay, featuring Jason Lancaster of Mayday Parade/Go Radio. How the hell did you guys get hooked up with him?! The song sounds incredible and you two sound incredible together.
Brooklane: When we wrote the song, we just knew that he would help us take it to the next level, so we reached out and it worked out!
Ian: You literally just reached out to Jason Lancaster and he agreed to do it? Are you serious?! Do you or someone around you know him? He’s one of my favorite vocalists of the pop punk scene, EVER.
Brooklane: At the time, we didn't have any connections to Jason, so when he said "yes", we were super stoked.
Ian: You guys released a pop-punkified version of Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA." I love the twist you put on it-what made you dabble into that song?
Brooklane: For our last musical release of the year, we just wanted to have some fun and release a song that everyone loves. We definitely had a blast making it!
Ian: I have a couple reader questions to ask you guys:
What's the scene in Fargo like?
Brooklane: The scene in Fargo is very small, but it is growing, and we hope it continues to do so!
Ian: Favorite (other) Midwest city to play.
Brooklane: We truly love to play everywhere, but some standouts for us as of recent are Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and NYC!
Ian: If you could play/work w/anyone, who would it be & why?
Brooklane: Woahhh very loaded question and we feel like our answers are always changing because there are so many musicians that we dream to play and collaborate with. However, we would probably have to say Blink-182 if we had to pick one. We could die happy.
Ian: Tell us what you guys have going on right now. Any new music in the future or playing shows?
Brooklane: We have a ton of new music coming out under our new label with several very exciting collaborations! Coming VERY soon...
Ian: You mentioned a new label. Did you sign to a new label?
Brooklane: Yes! We just signed to Adventure Cat Records.
Ian: It's been a blast chatting with you guys. How can readers find you and support the great music you're pumping out?
Brooklane: Head here https://linktr.ee/Brooklane to find our social media platforms, streaming profiles, tour announcements, and Discord community link!
