Half Built Homes (Mid 30s Punk Rock)
Half Built Homes
Meet the Band
Hailing from Elkhart IN, Half Built Homes is mid 30s punk rock that takes you back to your angsty youth. They’ve been playing together since 2020 and consist of Matt (guitar/vocals), Ryan (bass) and Austin (drums).
Matt and Austin used to be in a hardcore band together and when COVID hit, the band stopped playing together. Ryan and Matt reconnected, got Austin involved, produced a crappy-sounding demo and the rest is history.
They released an EP in May 2021 and the single “The Ones We Knew” in November 2021.
The band name came from the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. The guys were trying to come up with a band name and because they’re high-fantasy novel nerds (like me), they started going through chapter titles of the Rothfuss series.
They found a chapter titled, Half Built Houses, and wanted to change it to homes to give it a deeper, family meaning.
Listen to their upcoming album and be on the lookout for Easter eggs from the Kingkiller Chronicles. (link to their Spotify below)
The guys are excited for their first full length album in Spring 2023 called Opening Day.
The album is about growing up and the realization that as adults, may of our childhood friends aren’t around any more. Maybe they’ve moved, lost touch or you’re just working too much to support your family that you don’t have time to hang out with them.

Why I Like Them
As a married guy in my mid 30s with kids, the lyrics really resonate with me. Long gone are the days of our youths where we had full-reign to complain about things that we had no reason to complain about.
These guys write songs about experiencing life, working your a** off and all of the real things that we deal with on the daily.
